Tottenham appoints Antonio Conte as new manager

Conte becomes Tottenham's first managerial appointment since the departure of Nuno Espirito Santo

Conte is the first Serie A-winning manager in Spurs' history

Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Antonio Conte as their new manager. The Italian signed an 18-month contract with the club with an option to extend. Conte was previously in charge of Chelsea, where he won the Premier League title in his first season. He also managed Juventus, with whom he won three Serie A titles.

Conte is Tottenham's first ever manager to have won a Serie A title. He is also the first Italian to manage the club since Gianfranco Zola.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said: "We are delighted to have appointed Antonio Conte as our new head coach. Antonio is a world-class coach with a proven track record of success. He has won titles in Italy and England, and he has a wealth of experience in the Champions League. We believe that he is the right man to lead our club to success."

Conte said: "I am delighted to join Tottenham Hotspur. This is a great club with a rich history and a passionate fan base. I am excited to start working with the players and staff to create a winning team."

Conte's first game in charge of Tottenham will be against Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.
