New York Liberty Crowned Commissioners Cup Champions

Liberty Dominate Aces in Final

New York Earns Inaugural Title

The New York Liberty etched their name in WNBA history on Tuesday, defeating the Las Vegas Aces 82-63 to capture the inaugural Commissioners Cup championship. The victory marks a significant milestone for the Liberty, who have struggled to find consistent success in recent years.

Despite an early 12-point lead for the Aces, the Liberty rallied back to take control of the game in the second quarter. Led by the dynamic play of Sabrina Ionescu, New York opened up a 47-35 halftime lead and never looked back.

Ionescu finished the game with a triple-double, scoring 21 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and dishing out 11 assists. Han Xu added 18 points for the Liberty, while Natasha Howard contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The victory is a testament to the Liberty's determination and resilience. After enduring a challenging start to the season, the team has found its groove and emerged as a contender in the WNBA.

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert praised the Liberty's efforts, stating, "The New York Liberty have shown tremendous heart and determination throughout this tournament. They have earned this historic victory and deserve to be crowned Commissioners Cup champions."
